Film Synopsis
Angevine is a blissfully happy French village, thanks to Mayor Leopold Panneton's efforts to conceal bad news from everyone. Panneton's daughter, Marie, is selected as Miss Blue Waters in a beauty contest. Used to getting what she wants, Marie is disappointed when Gabriel, the local schoolteacher and the only man she loves, proves to be too shy to proclaim his love for her. Meanwhile, American millionaire Broderick McPower is sailing his yacht off the coast of France when he learns that his fourth wife intends to divorce him. Without a moment's delay, Broderick asks his secretary to find him a new wife in France, ideally a girl with the title Queen of Something. Hearing about Marie Panneton, Broderick lands his helicopter in Angevine and causes an instant commotion in the usually quiet village with a show of cheerleaders, cowboys and showers of presents for the entire population. Attracted by the prospect of a life of luxury, Marie agrees to marry Broderick. But once they are settled in New York, Marie begins to get bored of her new fairytale life and soon misses Angevine and Gabriel...© James Travers
