Comedy

Film Synopsis

Somewhere in the universe there is a planet whose highly evolved inhabitants live in perfect harmony.  From time to time, some of these happy beings leave their homeworld and set out to explore other worlds.  It has been two centuries since they set foot on planet Earth.  One day, a young woman named Mila decides to make the journey for her own reasons.  Having traversed the vast interstellar void she lands right in the centre of Paris.  Here she discovers a race of irascible beings who inhale unbreatheable air and who eat any old thing.  Made sick by the local cuisine, Mila must recharge herself by making contact with babies.  To that end, she infiltrates a maternity hospital...

The greatest French Films of all time
sb-img-4
With so many great films to choose from, it's nigh on impossible to compile a short-list of the best 15 French films of all time - but here's our feeble attempt to do just that.
The very best American film comedies
sb-img-18
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
The best of American film noir
sb-img-9
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
The very best sci-fi movies
sb-img-19
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
The best of Japanese cinema
sb-img-21
The cinema of Japan is noteworthy for its purity, subtlety and visual impact. The films of Ozu, Mizoguchi and Kurosawa are sublime masterpieces of film poetry.
