Film Synopsis

Daniel is a young shepherd who leads an idyllic life in Uz, a remote rural spot in the north of Portugal.  Thanks to migration, the local population has dwindled to barely a few dozen people, so Daniel has difficulty finding a wife willing to share his hard way of life.  His mother keeps dropping hints that he should find himself a wife, and he would like nothing better, but the chance of meeting someone suitable in this corner of the world is not great.  He had thought of going abroad to find a wife. Perhaps he may get lucky and find his future bride at the village ball...?
