Film Synopsis
From her childhood, Thérèse Martin knew that she was
destined to become a nun. As she begins adolescence, her
conviction grows, but she is too young to join a convent. She
must wait until she is 16 before she is finally accepted into the
Carmelite order, where she will remain until her death eight years
layer, from tuberculosis. In 1925, she will be
canonised.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
A wave of fresh talent in the late 1950s, early 1960s brought about a dramatic renaissance in French cinema, placing the auteur at the core of France's 7th art.
