On her return to her home village, an old woman who has become incredibly wealthy sets out to avenge herself against a childhood friend who dishonoured her.  Carla Zachanassian was made pregnant by Serge Miller when she was a teenager. After Serge refused to marry her, Carla was driven out of town.  Now a multi-millionaire, and a celebrity to boot, Carla has only one thought: to kill Serge Miller...
