In Alpe d'Huez, where her parents run a guesthouse, Elisabeth falls in love with Christian, but he refuses to marry her since he believes that marriage is a crime against true love.  When she sees him with another woman, Elisabeth breaks off their relationship and marries a young musician.  Later, she encounters Christian a second time and becomes pregnant...
