Film Synopsis

Nadège de Courtaboeuf desperately needs to obtain proof that her husband is cheating on her so that she can sue him for divorce, thereby making her a free woman of independent means.  Being a prominent businessman, Prosper de Courtaboeuf certainly gives the impression of having a healthy bank balance, so Nadège has nothing to lose by hiring private detective Clovis Blaireau to gather the incriminating evidence.  Despite his obvious ineptitude, Clovis succeeds in gaining the confidence of the supposedly wayward husband, and is surprised to discover that his personal fortune is nowhere near as great as he had been led to believe.  Meanwhile, Nadège has begun her own extra-marital affair, with a man who plans to end her marriage in a far more dramatic way than she had envisaged - by having Prosper murdered...
