Film Synopsis

Paris, as night begins to fall.   From a call box, Jean Célan telephones his girlfriend Stella and tells her that their relationship is over.  He confesses that he knew right from the start that their affair was only a passing infatuation.  Now he has no desire ever to see her again.  Jean begins roaming the streets of the capital, meeting and befriending several people who cross his path, including a prostitute.  As he does so, he telephones Stella repeatedly, until, in the end, she refuses to pick up the receiver...
