Film Synopsis
In November 1995, the whole of France is paralysed by transport
strikes. The government plan to combat the strike is ill-received
by the staff of the national railway, the SNCF, and some - Serge,
Claire and Jean-Paul in particular - are motivated to take action
against it. On their return to base just outside Paris they meet
a woman named Nadia. She is carrying a child and is looking for
the father who abandoned her when the baby was born.

The best of American film noir
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
In his letters to his friends and family, Franz Kafka gives us a rich self-portrait that is surprisingly upbeat, nor the angst-ridden soul we might expect.
The cinema of Japan is noteworthy for its purity, subtlety and visual impact. The films of Ozu, Mizoguchi and Kurosawa are sublime masterpieces of film poetry.
