Film Synopsis

Raoul Kraft is leading a tranquil life as a forester in the Vosges Mountains when he learns that his 18-year-old son has been killed in a road accident.  According to the police, there is nothing suspicious about the incident, nothing to distinguish it from the hundreds of similar accidents that they have to deal with every month in France.  Raoul has no reason to think otherwise, until he is contacted unexpectedly by a young woman named Diane and presented with a very different story.  She is convinced that the death of Raoul's son was not an accident.  Before he died, the young man was involved in some preliminary trials of a new drug being conducted by a large pharmaceuticals company.  A committed anti-globalist, Diane has obtained some damning evidence which suggests that the teenager's death was caused by the drug.

It is plausible that the company in question didn't want this blunder to come out and so arranged an accident to conceal the fact.  For Raoul, this story is too fantastic, too outrageous to take seriously, but he is sufficiently concerned by what he hears to assist Diane as she continues her own private investigation into the matter in Paris.  Before he knows it, the forester finds himself in a world very different to the one he is familiar with.  It is a world where nothing is to be taken at face value and where danger hides behind every corner.  If Diane is right, who knows what steps will be taken to prevent the truth of the harmful drug from ever coming to light.  Raoul Kraft is a resilient and resourceful man, but he will have a hard time coming to grips with the New Protocol...
