La Turbulence des fluides (2002)
Directed by Manon Briand

Drama / Mystery / Romance
aka: Chaos and Desire

Film Synopsis

Alice is an experienced seismologist working in Japan when, out of the blue, she is summoned back to her native Canada to investigate a mysterious natural phenomenon that has recently been observed on the Saint-Laurent estuary.  Inexplicably, the tide on the coastal town of Baie-Comeau has apparently disappeared.  Assisting Alice in her research is Catherine, an old school friend.   She then meets Marc Vandal, a charmer who has been through a personal crisis about which he remains stubbornly reticent.  As the mystery deepens, Alice finds herself haunted by the spectres of her own past.   It seems that whatever is happening in the town is connected with a secret that refuses to reveal itself, no matter how intensely Alice probes it.  She will require all of her personal resources and scientific training if she is to unravel the worrying mystery...
