In the year 2020 the entire world is governed by a global dictatorship.  A former general in the army has taken control of every country, his grand design being the destruction of planet Earth and all mankind.  To that end, he coerces the most brilliant scientific minds into developing the most destructive of substances.  Under the influence of a strange new gas no one can see colour anymore.  No one can sleep.  This is just the beginning...
