La Cinquième saison (2013)
Directed by Peter Brosens, Jessica Woodworth

Drama / Mystery
aka: The Fifth Season

Film Synopsis

As winter draws to a close in small Belgian village in the Ardennes, the locals await the arrival of spring with growing impatience.  They mark the occasion, as usual, with the ritual burning of a scarecrow.  But, as the days and weeks pass, winter persists, reluctant to relinquish its fierce hold on the region.  It is beginning to look as if spring is never going to come this year.  Seeds refuse to germinate, farm animals fall ill for no apparent reason, and soon food is in worryingly short supply.

It now appears that some terrible curse has fallen upon this unfortunate rural community.  It is as if the natural cycle has completely broken down.  Fearful over what the future now holds for them, the villagers begin to look for a scapegoat and a mood of hostility soon overtakes the previously peaceful locale.  Three of the younger villagers - Alice, Thomas and Octave - find themselves caught up in the ensuing confusion and desperately seek a way out of the crisis as the world begins to collapse around them...
