Hail, Caesar! (2016)
Directed by Ethan Coen, Joel Coen

Comedy / Mystery

Film Synopsis

Hollywood, in the 1940s.  As head of one of the biggest film studios in the world, Eddie Mannix has his hands full trying to resolve the multitude of setbacks that hit him every day of his working life.  Fragile egos and temperamental divas are Eddie's stock in trade, and there are days when you could easily mistake him for a clinical psychologist, social worker or peace envoy.  It is his job to persuade Hobie Doyle, a juvenile who made his name in westerns, that it is time for him to gravitate to more serious fare like love films, and it is equally his responsibility to keep Miss DeeAnna Moran's love life in order.  When Baird Whitlock, the star of his next sand and sandals epic Hail, Caesar, fails to show up, Eddie doesn't bat an eyelid.  Knowing Baird, he's probably sleeping off yet another of his killer hangovers.  Then some seriously bad news hits him.  Baird has been kidnapped and his abductors, a group of political activists, are demanding a ransom of 100,000 dollars.  Life in the movies definitely isn't all it is cracked up to be...
