aka: OSS 117: Mission for a Killer

Film Synopsis

Following the assassination of several prominent politicians in South America, the French secret services send their best agent - Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, better known as OSS 117 - to investigate.  The killings are being orchestrated by a gang of determined revolutionaries led by a wealthy plantation owner named Leandro.  These resort to using suicide bombers in a coordinated attempt to topple the governments of several South American countries.  On his arrival in Rio de Janeiro, posing as an ordinary French tourist Hubert Delcroix, OSS 117 is met by Consuela, the secretary of the special agent with whom he has an important rendezvous, Thomas Ellis.

Before the meeting can take place, Ellis is caught in another bomb blast and is badly wounded.  He is rushed to hospital but is killed on the operating table by one of the revolutionaries disguised as a doctor.  The discovery of a dried flower in the boot of Ellis's car causes OSS 117 to think that the attackers are acting under the influence of Peyote, a powerful narcotic.  This leads the agent to Leandro, who grows the drug on his plantation.  Along with Anna-Maria Sulza, the woman who came to Ellis's aid after the bombing, and her brother Miguel, OSS 117 is captured by the revolutionaries and taken to their camp in the middle of the jungle.  Here they are threatened by a fierce brute named Carlos, who has every intention of killing them all...
