In 1912, Juliette discovers on her honeymoon travels that her husband has not married her but her father's factory.  On a steamer off the coast of India, she meets a young seamstress, Esther, who is about to join her fiancé, whom she only knows by his photograph.  Unbeknown to her husband, Juliette persuades Esther to change places with her...
