Film Synopsis

At the start of the Second World War, the owners of two adjacent buildings in Paris carry on their running feud.  Dalban, a world authority on Napoleon, refuses to accept  Madame Ancelot's assertions that the esteemed emperor did not sleep with one of her ancestors.  It's a small difference of opinion, but it is enough to keep them bickering.  Caught in the crossfire are their respective children, Claire and Bernard, who have fallen in love but cannot hope to marry until peace breaks out between their warring parents.  In an attempt to scupper the love affair, Dalban resorts to sending a desirable show girl in Bernard's direction, but the outcome is not what he had anticipated.  Taking refuge in an air raid shelter, the two warring house owners finally learn to set aside their differences, for the sake of the children...
