Directed by Olivier Lorelle

Drama

Film Synopsis

In 1946, after the surrender of Japan at the end of the Second World War, the French army now concerns itself with the pacification of Indochina, the colony that France has no intention of surrendering.  One French soldier, Philippe, carries out his duties with commendable diligence, hunting down the troublesome Viet-Minh nationalists who are fiercely committed to winning independence from French colonial rule.  His ideals are suddenly put to the test one day when he is called upon to torture a young Vietnamese woman named Thi.  Unable to carry out his orders, Philippe releases his prisoner and flees with her into the jungle.  It is here that the young man feels bound to switch his allegiances and join the Viet-Minh rebels, as he discovers love in the most unlikely of places - in a strange and beautiful land beneath an unfamiliar sun...
