Film Synopsis

Georges Flavier is the owner of a small hairdressing salon in a working class district of Paris.  One evening, he saves a man who has just attempted to drown himself in the St Martin canal.  Georges takes pity on the man, a loser named Gus who has been unlucky in love, and invites him to live with him.  Grateful for this attention, the young man immediately starts to inveigle his way into his benefactor's life.  Even though they have nothing in common, Georges and Gus soon become inseparable.  When he finds out that Georges once used to style the hair of big name celebrities, Gus persuades him to enter a prestigious hairdressing competition in Czechoslovakia...
