Film Synopsis

The beautiful Carmen is imprisoned for starting a fight in the cigarette factory where she works in Seville.  By seducing the officer Don José she manages to escape and live in the mountains with a gang of smugglers.  Obsessed with Carmen, the disgraced Don José becomes a deserter and sets out to find her, determined that she will be his woman and his alone.  But Carmen has by now acquired a new lover, the handsome bullfighter Escamillo.  In the ensuing duel a tragic conclusion seems inevitable...
