Avant la fin de l'été (2017)
Directed by Maryam Goormaghtigh

Comedy / Documentary
aka: Before Summer Ends

Film Synopsis

After spending the last five years in Paris completing his education, Arash decides that the French way of life is not for him and makes up his mind to return to his home country of Iran.  His friends, Hossein and Ashkan, are taken aback by this revelation and agree to try to persuade him to remain in France.  To this end, the three friends take to the road in a Renault Espace and wend their way lazily across the sleepy byways of southern France.  They take time out to enjoy the freedom of the open road and talk about their lives, their hopes, their anxieties.  It was Arash's refusal to submit to the harrowing ordeal of military service that led him to leave Iran in the first place, but now, overweight and disillusioned, he feels the emotional tug of his homeland like never before.  As they continue their aimless tour, the friends pick up hitch-hikers and make the most of what may be their last few days together in France...
