Film Synopsis

Andoche Balochon is a modest sales assistant in a haberdashery named A la culotte de zouave.  His employer, Monsieur Blancmouton, laments the fact that, no matter how hard he tries, Antoine cannot sell anything to anyone.  In fact, he tends to dissuade his customers from buying anything.  Having tried to buy some underwear for her husband, the wife of a colonel leaves the shop exasperated by the incompetence she has just been subjected to.  Blancmouton makes one final attempt to inculcate Andoche in the art of salesmanship.  When he attempts to apply why he has learned Andoche merely provokes a seismic scandal...
