Film Synopsis

Charles Dobbs, a British secret service agent, is investigating a suspected communist sympathiser, Samuel Fennan.  Not long after Fennan meets up with Dobbs and explains that his interest in communism was an aberration of youth,  he commits suicide.  Dobbs visits his widow Elsa to express his condolences but becomes suspicious by her strange behaviour.  Things take a more sinister turn when an old friend of Dobbs, Dieter Frey, appears out of the blue and tries to elope with his wife...
