Biography: life and films

Robert Siodmak was a German film director, screenwriter and film producer. He was born in Dresden, Germany on 8 August 1900 and died in Locarno, Switzerland on 10 March 1973. Leaving Nazi Germany in the early 1930s, he made several films in France before settling in Hollywood, where, influenced by German expressionism, he became one of the great film noir directors.
