John Huston was an American actor, film director and screenwriter whose birth name was John Marcellus Huston. He was born in Nevada, Missouri, USA on 5th August 1906 and died in Middletown, Rhode Island, USA on 28th August 1987, aged 81.

His best films as an actor include Report from the Aleutians (1943), The Bible: In the Beginning... (1966), Roman Polanski's crime-thriller Chinatown (1974), William Richert's comedy-thriller Winter Kills (1979) and Christian Blackwood's Observations Under the Volcano (1984), and whose best work as a film director include The Maltese Falcon (1941), The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), The Asphalt Jungle (1950), The African Queen (1951) and The Man Who Would Be King (1975).
