Georg Wilhelm Pabst was an Austrian film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Raudnitz, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary on 25th August 1885 and died in Vienna, Austria on 29th May 1967, aged 81.

His best films as a film director include Die Liebe der Jeanne Ney (1927), Abwege (1928), Pandora's Box (1929), Tagebuch einer Verlorenen (1929) and Kameradschaft (1931), and whose best work as a screenwriter include Pandora's Box (1929), Augusto Genina's Prix de beauté (1930) and Irving Cummings's White Hunter (1936).
