Frank Capra was an American film director and screenwriter whose birth name was Francesco Rosario Capra. He was born in Bisacquino, Sicily, Italy on 18th May 1897 and died in La Quinta, California, USA on 3rd September 1991, aged 94.

His best films as a film director include It Happened One Night (1934), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Lost Horizon (1937), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and Meet John Doe (1941), and whose best work as a screenwriter include That Certain Thing (1928), The Burglar (1928), It's a Wonderful Life (1946) and William A. Wellman's Westward the Women (1951).
