He was born in Ainsdale, Southport, Lancashire, England on 7th September 1913 and died in Chelsea, London, England on 20th October 1989, aged 76.His best films as an actor include Laurence Olivier's Hamlet (1948), Michael Powell's The Battle of the River Plate (1956), Alfred Hitchcock's crime-thriller The Wrong Man (1956), J.
