Thanks for your work on this site. I would like to invite you and readers here to visit the Bonjour Paris site (www.bonjourparis.com) where I do French film reviews and hold a French films chat on Sunday mornings from 10am-12noon EST. I like the way this site is organized. One film I was trying to find but couldn't is the Bernard Tavernier film Laissez-Passer,which is a logical follow-up for the L'Assassinat du Pere Noel movie which was made by Continental films. Anyway, keep up the good work and thank you.

This is a wonderful website, which has without a doubt added to my knowledge of great French Cinema. The directors whom I love above all others are JEAN-PIERRE MELVILLE and CLAUDE CHABROL, but I also have a tremendous admiration for such greats as JEAN RENOIR, JACQUES BECKER, JEAN COCTEAU, ROBERT BRESSON, etc. I also find the opinions expressed here informative and provocative, even if I do not always agree with them. Keep up the good work!!!!

I just saw Bertrand Tavernier's "Laissez-Passer", an interesting film about an assistant director at a film studio who becomes involved the resistance movement during WWII. In fact there are references to a number of films featured on this site.

This is heavy site and really helped me with my homework. I'm only 13 and needed to write an essay on the film 'Taxi 2' which i hadn't watched. Thanks to these reviwes i didn't have to put myself through what seems to be a very dull and broing film. Thanks! Dazz

This is one of the BEST sites on the Web!! The information on French Films, past and present, is very helpful in understanding the films them selves. I only wish that half of the movies on this site were available, either on VHS or DVD.

Your website is really well made. Thanks to you, I am increasing my discovery of French films. The least I can do is to translate some of your difficult style reviews. I will do my best! Thank you!!! With love, JOJO.

Your sight has opened a new world of cinema to me. The films described sound much more interesting than the films I've grown accustomed to. I only hope that most of these films are available in the U.S.

I recently saw Amelie and loved it. I'd forgotten how brilliant French, and other foreign films can be. Great characters, great wit and no Hollywood explosions!

I love French movie. Some of them are so excellent especially some old movie such as "La Grande vadrouille". It is still my favorite. I am very perplexed that why Amercian movies have great box office since most of the movies are very superficial and bland. I could not finish "spiderman" "starwar" "blade"--- Anyway, I love this site!!!!!!!!!

I was astounded to find such an in depth work about (well, something artistic, which is by definition not so "alimentaire" ) so you must be really pationated (does not sound so good in english, non, passionné je veux dire..) Keep up the good work... and yes thanks...

A good and worthwhile site which induces browsing. However I feel you are lacking in the area of newer up and coming actors / directors, for example: Vincent Cassel, Samy Naceri, Elodie Bouchez, Marie Gillain, Romaine Bohringer, Virginie Ledoyen to name a few. Your list of films is also a bit generalist, missing out gems such as L'Appartement and Fin aout, debut september. Otherwise a good site . I am an avid collector of french cinema and am glad I happened upon your site.

It's such a nice site! but I can't find some old but classic movies like "Sundays and Cybele" (1962). It even got a Academy award on the same year, and so many striking scenes and mystical stories are remembered in many film mania I believe... so, hope you will have more stuffs in Classics. Bonne journee!

A truly wonderful site - very informative, well-organized and with a strong personal touch! What I miss, however, is more information on the availability of the discussed movies on the market - after so much mouth watering material you simply want to watch the real thing... And generally (in terms of future additions) I would appreciate a stronger accent on movies that are now out on DVD (finally a way around the exclusively french video format SECAM), be it Code 1 or 2. For example, a remarkably well restored version of "Drôle de Drame" with Louis Jouvet can now be bought with optional english subtitles (Code 2); many Gabin movies are out too (still Code 2) - and Truffaut movies even exist in Code 1... But enough talking - I will certainly revisit this site as it grows, and I'm looking forward to it!

hi, I just wanted to say thanks for a fascinating glimpse into French new-wave cinema. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it, but alas in Britain it's not easy to see these films. Most recently I have seen Ma Nuit chez Maud and L'Amour en Fuite - both films absolutely captivated me. I hope you can add even more to this site soon! Merci beaucoup!
