Summary
Odette Toulemonde lives a mundane life in Belgium, contenting herself with her humdrum job as shop assistant in a big department store and her two stay-at-home children.  She owes her happiness to the works of the writer Balthazar Balsan and dreams of meeting him so that she can let him know of the positive influence he has had on her life...
